For the fantasy nerds that also are interested in Linguistics. I'm reading Babel from R.F. Kuang and I strongly recommend it. It's about language and colonialism in a fictional 18th century Oxford. It has one of the most unique magic systems I've seen so far.
Just to give a small peak into it, the magic system works in translation, the magic is manifested trough the lost meaning between similar words in different languages, I'll leave this as it is to not spoil anything else.
It is making me think a lot about how I translate stuff and most importantly how my brain works differently between Brazilian Portuguese and English. The book is incredibly insightful, well written and engaging.
